Tragic Discovery: 14-Year-Old Boy Found Beheaded in Cross River River — The Abuja Times Newsroom

In a shocking incident that has sent ripples of fear through the Yahe community in northern Cross River State, the lifeless body of a 14-year-old boy named Ogar was found beheaded in the Yahe River. Ogar was last seen on Friday afternoon after returning home from school, and his family reported his disappearance shortly thereafter.

The boy's mother, Agnes, recounted the harrowing moment she realized her son was missing. "I don't know who did this wicked act to me — my only source of hope after his father died three years ago. His body without the head was found at the river," she lamented. The family organized a search after Ogar failed to return home post-meal, but it was not until Saturday afternoon that his body was discovered approximately one kilometer from their community.

Agnes noted that the river where her son's body was found is typically avoided for swimming or washing clothes due to its dirty and brownish water, raising questions about how Ogar ended up there. The circumstances of his disappearance remain unclear, with his classmates, including a boy named Jacob, expressing disbelief that Ogar had plans to go anywhere with anyone.

A source at the Yahe Police Station confirmed the tragic discovery but did not provide any further details about ongoing investigations. The local community is mourning the loss of a young life, and the incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced safety measures to protect children in the area.
