The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially announced that Uyo will continue to serve as the home ground for the Super Eagles, at least for the foreseeable future. This decision comes in light of the team's recent disappointing 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 qualifier, where Nigeria currently sits with three points from two matches in Group L, trailing Guinea-Bissau, who lead the group with six points.

Despite earlier reports suggesting a potential shift of home games to Lagos, a senior NFF official has clarified that while Lagos is under consideration, Uyo remains the venue for upcoming matches. The renovated Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos is still pending inspection and is not yet ready to host international games, which complicates any immediate transition.

“Changing a settled home ground could hurt performance,” the official stated, highlighting the importance of consistency for the team.

The NFF plans to conduct inspections of the Teslim Balogun Stadium once renovations are completed by the Lagos State Government. There is also a proposal for organizing friendly matches at this new venue to test the facilities and gauge fan reactions. However, the timeline is tight given the upcoming double-header against Tanzania scheduled for November, leaving little room for necessary approvals and inspections.

As it stands, if the stadium in Lagos is not ready in time, Uyo will be the only viable option for the Super Eagles’ next home game. The NFF is keen on ensuring that any decisions made prioritize both the team's performance and the logistical feasibility of hosting international fixtures.
