The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is rallying its supporters in Nasarawa State to prepare for the 2027 general elections, with a strong emphasis on the importance of vote protection. At a recent campaign event for the party's governorship candidate, Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, the party's National Deputy Chairman (North), Mr. Yusuf Nya Agirikwe, made a passionate appeal for vigilance among party members during the electoral process.
During the flag-off ceremony held at the party secretariat in Lafia, Agirikwe stated, “I have come to establish it myself today, that PDP has the mandate of the people to rule them in this state. We can only actualize this if you will be able to vote and defend your votes.” His remarks were designed to empower party supporters to stand firm against any intimidation that could jeopardize the integrity of the elections.
Agirikwe expressed gratitude for the impressive turnout of party members and leaders at the event and urged them to rally behind Ombugadu as the elections approach. He echoed a sentiment of confidence, stating, “What I have seen with my eyes, and many of my colleagues who are here, we will go and testify that the Nasarawa people are truly behind him.” This endorsement, he noted, reflects the party's belief in Ombugadu's leadership and commitment to the people.
In a heartfelt address, Ombugadu dedicated his candidacy to women, youth, and leaders throughout the state, acknowledging their critical role in shaping the future of Nasarawa. His commitment to inclusive governance resonates with the party's broader strategy of engaging diverse demographics to ensure a robust electoral turnout and support.
The absence of key figures, including the party’s national chairman and the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, was noted during the event, highlighting the significance of the gathering as a moment of unity for PDP supporters in the region. As the 2027 elections draw closer, the PDP’s focused efforts in Nasarawa signal a determined approach to reclaim political influence in the state.
