The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has taken a significant step in its response to the recent Ebola outbreak by approving a weekly allowance of ₦100,000 for individuals in quarantine. This additional financial support aims to ease the challenges faced by those who are required to isolate themselves as a precaution against the virus.
Mr. Idris, a spokesperson for the NCDC, confirmed that the agency has been covering the costs of accommodation and feeding for quarantined contacts. The introduction of the weekly allowance reflects a commitment to ensuring that individuals are not only safe but also financially secure during their period of isolation.
“We understand that being quarantined can be a difficult experience, both mentally and financially,” Mr. Idris stated. “This allowance is meant to provide some relief and allow individuals to focus on their health and safety without the added stress of financial worries.”
The NCDC's decision comes at a crucial time as the agency works tirelessly to manage the outbreak and prevent further transmission of the virus. By providing comprehensive support to those at risk, the NCDC aims to foster a more effective public health response.
