Katsina Health Workers Initiate Warning Strike, Disrupting Hospital Services
A one-week warning strike by health professionals in Katsina State has led to significant disruptions in hospital services, raising concerns among patients and their families. The strike is primarily driven by ongoing issues related to welfare and remuneration for healthcare workers.

In a significant development affecting healthcare delivery in Katsina State, health workers have commenced a one-week warning strike, resulting in widespread disruptions across hospitals. Patients and caregivers have voiced their concerns as essential medical services are severely impacted, leaving many in dire need of care without access to necessary treatments.
The strike, which is organized by various health professional associations, is primarily aimed at drawing attention to critical issues regarding worker welfare and inadequate remuneration. Health workers argue that their demands for improved pay and working conditions have not been adequately addressed by the state government, prompting this collective action.
As the strike unfolds, many patients have been left waiting for urgent medical attention, with some resorting to private healthcare facilities that may not be readily accessible or affordable for all. “We are worried about the lack of services; many of us came here seeking treatment, and now we are left with no options,” a concerned caregiver lamented outside one of the affected hospitals.
“This strike is a last resort; we hope it will compel the government to take our issues seriously,” said a representative of the health workers.
The Katsina State government has yet to respond to the strike, and it remains uncertain how the situation will unfold in the coming days. Stakeholders are urged to prioritize negotiations to ensure the swift resumption of healthcare services, which are critical to the well-being of the community.
