The Dangote Refinery is set to double its workforce as part of a strategic expansion aimed at enhancing production capabilities. This move, confirmed by company executives, reflects the refinery's commitment to scaling operations while maintaining efficiency in its water treatment sector.

The Dangote Refinery, one of Africa's largest oil processing plants, is gearing up to significantly expand its workforce as part of a broader strategy to enhance its production capacity. According to Edwin Devakumar, the Vice President of Oil & Gas and Fertiliser at Dangote Industries Limited, the workforce is expected to nearly double, with the exception of the water treatment section, which already operates at substantial capacity.
This announcement comes as the refinery prepares to ramp up its operations in response to increasing domestic and international demand for refined products. The initiative is designed not only to boost production but also to create numerous job opportunities, thereby contributing to local economic development.
Devakumar's remarks highlight the refinery's proactive approach in positioning itself as a leader in the oil sector, particularly in terms of operational efficiency and workforce optimization. "We are focused on expanding our capabilities while ensuring that we maintain high standards in our water treatment processes," he stated during a press briefing at the refinery in Lagos.
The expansion aligns with Nigeria's broader economic goals of reducing reliance on imported refined petroleum products and enhancing local production. As the Dangote Refinery continues to evolve, it is expected to play a pivotal role in transforming the country's oil landscape and fostering sustainable economic growth.
“The workforce will practically become double, except in the water treatment section, because there we already have substantial capacity,” said Edwin Devakumar.
