In a groundbreaking move to foster financial literacy and investment acumen among young Nigerians, the Aliko Dangote Foundation has launched a Student Share Grant Initiative, coinciding with the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE (DPRP). This initiative allows eligible university students to receive free shares, thereby encouraging them to take an active role in wealth creation and investment from an early age.

During an online engagement held over the weekend, the Foundation connected with campus journalists from various tertiary institutions to discuss the significance of the IPO and the importance of financial education. Participants learned about the various opportunities within Nigeria's capital market and the responsible investing practices that can lead to sustainable financial growth.

Under the Student Share Grant Initiative, students aged 18 and above in both public and private institutions can qualify for free shares by purchasing a minimum of 10 shares through the Foundation’s dedicated platform, ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org. For every qualifying purchase, the Foundation will grant an additional 10 shares at no extra cost, effectively doubling the investment for students.

This initiative has sparked enthusiasm across campuses, with many students expressing excitement at the prospect of becoming shareholders in one of Africa's most significant industrial projects. As one student noted, “This is not just about free shares; it’s about being part of something big and learning how to invest wisely for our future.”

“The program is designed to introduce young Nigerians to investing early in life while promoting financial literacy, ownership, and long-term wealth creation,” said a representative from the Aliko Dangote Foundation.

The Student Share Grant Initiative stands as a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to empowering the youth of Nigeria, providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to navigate the complex world of finance and investments.
