CNN Denied Access on Trump's Upcoming Trip Amidst Ongoing Tensions
The White House has barred CNN reporters from accompanying President Donald Trump on his upcoming trip, amplifying tensions between the administration and the news network. This decision follows a series of attempts by Trump to limit media access, raising constitutional concerns and prompting a rare show of solidarity among major U.S. broadcasters.

In a significant development in the ongoing clash between the Trump administration and media outlets, CNN journalists have been prohibited from traveling with President Donald Trump on his scheduled trip to Tennessee this Saturday. This decision marks a continuation of the White House's efforts to restrict access for certain news organizations, which Trump has accused of delivering persistently negative coverage.
Last week, the president sought to exclude CNN, along with MS NOW and Politico, from the White House press pool, a move that was met with immediate backlash. After journalists from these outlets were barred from entering the White House complex, a federal judge intervened, temporarily restoring their access and suggesting that Trump's actions could be unconstitutional.
For the upcoming trip, CNN was initially slated to be part of the press pool, a rotating group of journalists who accompany the president to provide coverage for other media outlets, given the limited space on Air Force One. However, a schedule released by the White House on Friday evening failed to include CNN, instead listing a correspondent from Lindell TV, a network known for its pro-Trump stance and operated by a close ally of the president.
“The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a news organization,”
Earlier this week, in a rare show of unity, the top five U.S. broadcasters took a collective stand by halting pool coverage of the White House in solidarity with CNN. This unprecedented action underscores the growing concern among journalists regarding the implications of such media restrictions for press freedom and the public’s right to information.
