The All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed its determination to secure victory in the upcoming 2027 general elections, while taking a pointed jab at key opposition figures, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi. During an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, characterized the opposition's rhetoric as mere 'shooting the breeze' and lacking genuine substance.
Morka's remarks followed the inauguration of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, where he outlined the APC's robust approach to the electoral contest. He noted that the party has enjoyed a series of victories in various bye-elections since the last general elections, attributing this success to their meticulous preparation and strategic groundwork. “Virtually all elections that have been called, bye-elections, whatever election, since the last general elections, we’ve won fantastically,” he stated, underscoring the importance of preparation in their electoral strategy.
As the APC gears up for the forthcoming elections, Morka emphasized that the party is not leaving anything to chance. He elaborated on their plans to strengthen their campaign machinery and mobilize their support base. “We prepare, we do our homework, we put together our systems and we trigger massive campaigns, which is what we are about to do,” he explained. This proactive approach, according to Morka, showcases the party’s commitment to its electoral ambitions and strategic vision.
In response to criticisms suggesting that the party's preparations indicate desperation, Morka firmly rejected such notions. He reiterated that the APC's focus is on developing a comprehensive electoral strategy rather than succumbing to any perceived panic. “I don’t think it’s a sign of desperation to prepare,” he asserted, reinforcing the party's confidence in its preparation efforts as they look toward the elections.
