ADC Clarifies G100 Alliance Talks: Focus on Electoral Cooperation, Not Consensus Candidate
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has clarified that ongoing discussions within the G100 alliance are centered on electoral cooperation rather than the selection of a single presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. This assertion aims to clarify the ADC's role in the alliance amidst rising speculations about a unified opposition front.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has confirmed its active participation in the G100 alliance discussions but emphasized that the focus of these talks is on fostering electoral cooperation rather than uniting behind a single presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 elections. This clarification comes in response to growing speculation regarding the intentions of the G100 alliance, which comprises various opposition parties.
In statements made by ADC leaders, the party reiterated that while collaboration among opposition parties is critical in enhancing their electoral chances, the notion of a consensus candidate is not currently on the agenda. The ADC’s position highlights the necessity for strategic partnerships that would enable them to present a formidable challenge to the ruling party.
“Our discussions are aimed at strengthening our electoral strategies and ensuring that we can work together effectively,” said a senior ADC official. “The key objective is to enhance our collective bargaining power and not necessarily to present a single voice in the form of a consensus candidate.”
This development is significant as the 2027 elections approach, with various political factions vying for voter support. The ADC’s involvement in the G100 alliance indicates a willingness to collaborate while maintaining its identity and agenda, suggesting that the opposition landscape is becoming increasingly complex as the election date nears.
